Sybil Somaes – Managing Director, Compli-Serve (Namibia)
Compli-Serve (Namibia) is an independent provider of regulatory compliance services to the financial services sector. It was recently established by Sybil via joint venture with Compli-Serve South Africa.
Describing herself as a compliance professional, she says she is passionate about the financial services industry particularly in the areas of regulatory compliance and risk management, a discipline which she has embraced in her career.
Sybil has spent most of her career in the Namibian financial services industry and was most recently employed as the Chief Executive of the Namibia Savings and Investment Association (NaSIA).
Prior to that she was employed at PPS Insurance Namibia as the Chief Operating Officer. In her earlier career she held various management positions at Old Mutual Namibia.
She has served on a number of Boards and served as Chairperson of the Orion Pension and Provident Funds. She further has experience as Principal Officer of retirement annuity funds.
She holds BCom, LLB degrees from Rhodes University in South Africa and is currently pursuing an Executive Master of Business Administration degree through the Henley Business School in South Africa.
